Transocean Deadline Looms
Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange was on the Gulf Coast Monday reminding claimants of an upcoming deadline. If you want to join a suit against Transocean, the owner of the Deepwater Horizon rig, you have until April 20.
Transocean is using maritime law to try and limit the company’s liability to just $27 million. Next February, the Gulf Coast states led by Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, will be going after Transocean in what’s called a limitation trial. If the states are successful, the liability won’t be capped.
“I want people to know we’re still working day in and day out to be sure we hold them accountable. So we’ve really just begun to fight, if you will,” Strange said.
